Big Bass
Big Bass is one of those games I opened expecting to bounce off in ten minutes, and then somehow it was an hour later and I was still trying to land one specific fish. The core loop is calm: pick a spot, choose your gear, cast, and read the water. The controls are a simple pull-and-release for casting, then a light tug rhythm when something bites. It's tactile in a way a lot of mobile games aren't.
What makes it click is the progression. You slowly unlock new lakes and better rods, and each new area behaves differently, so the same tap-and-wait rhythm stays fresh. I liked that it never nags you to hurry. You can play for two minutes or forty and it feels fine either way.
It won't blow anyone away with graphics, but the water animation is genuinely nice and the sound design is soothing. It's the kind of game I now keep installed just to decompress after work.
What we liked
- Relaxing, low-pressure pace
- Satisfying cast-and-reel controls
- New lakes keep the loop varied
