How we actually test the games we cover

How we actually test the games we cover

April 6, 2026 · Marek Dvořák

People sometimes ask how long we spend on a game before writing. The honest answer is: until we've seen enough. That usually means finishing the story for a short adventure, or reaching the mid-game grind for an RPG or strategy title.

We track a few things in every session. How the controls feel after the novelty wears off. Whether the difficulty curve stays fair. How badly the game drains battery, and whether it stutters on an average phone rather than a flagship.

We also note the annoying stuff, because that's what most reviews skip. Aggressive pop-ups, load times, menus that fight you. Those small frictions decide whether a game stays installed.

None of this is scientific, and we don't pretend it is. It's just careful, honest playing by people who genuinely like the medium and want you to spend your time well.
