Tavern Tactics
★★★★☆ 4.2
Tavern Tactics is a roguelike deckbuilder, and it's dangerously easy to lose an evening to. You start with a weak hand of cards and, across a run, shape it into something nasty by picking upgrades between fights. The classic 'just one more run' trap is fully active here.
What I liked is how readable it is. The cards are clear, the synergies are discoverable without a wiki, and losing usually feels like your mistake rather than bad luck. Each of the playable heroes pushes you toward a different build, so replay value is high.
There's a bit of grind to unlock everything, and a couple of card combos feel overpowered, but the core loop is tight. It's a perfect pick-up-and-think game for short sessions that turn into long ones.
What we liked
- Addictive run-based structure
- Clear, discoverable synergies
- High replay value per hero
